It was built in the sixteenth century and 17th century to bring water to the Convent of Christ in Tomar under the command of King Phillip 1. It’s an amazing monument with 6 kilometres, and in places it reaches a height of 30 meters. The construction began in 1593 and finished in 1614 and is the biggest and most important construction of the Phillip 1 kingdom in Portugal. Aqueduct of Pegoes National Monument
